A year ago Stacie Shepp had the honor of being an "eco bride."
It was important for her and her fiance to plan a wedding that had
little environmental impact. She and her husband run several Green
businesses; she drives a Prius, shops locally and buys organic food.
Here are her suggestions for you to consider when planning your "eco wedding."
Your wedding day is a very
special occasion. It is an opportunity to gather all of your closest
friends and family in one place for a celebration of your love. You've
probably seen the terms "eco" and "green"
wedding popping up all over these days and are considering integrating
these concepts into your own wedding. But what exactly does this mean?
An "eco" or "green"
wedding is one that takes into consideration the environmental and
social impacts of the occasion. This includes everything from invites,
to catering and even the honeymoon and travel.

Joey and Stacie Shepp first met in a green MBA graduate program,
married in a green wedding ceremony, run the green web development
business Earthsite.net, and launched the green search engine
GreenMaven.com, so it's no surprise they've turned their considerable
experience, dedication and passion into a green wedding resource. Eco
Wedding will show you how create your dream day and make a powerful
environmental statement at the same time from where to source local
artist-made rings to paperless invitations, eco-bridal gowns and
clothing, green gifts, wedding favors and carbon offsets, organic
flowers, bio-compostable food, and idyllic eco-honeymoon retreats.

MENDOCINO COUNTY, CA
Couples
who are choosing to go the green route when tying the knot sort through
an array of green choices that can be overwhelming -- from making
smarter selections that are still luxurious, to staying in a place that
is completely off the power grid.
This is the real wedding story of Stacie Wickham and Joey Shepp, who
met in a Green MBA program, fell in love, decided to get married in the
most eco-friendly way possible and found a place, the Shambhala Ranch
Retreat Centre and Country Inn (www.shambhalaranch.com), that helped them to realize their dream.
The ranch is a truly green, off-the-grid place near the coastal town of
Mendocino, in Northern California where you won’t see any electrical or
telephone lines, as the center is run completely on solar power.
On July 7, 2007, Stacie and Joey exchanged vows at ranch. “We strive in
our daily lives to conserve energy, reduce waste, and save water so
when we started planning our wedding our first objective was to host an
event that was in alignment with our values and with the complete
assurance that their wedding would leave no harmful environmental
“footprint” behind.,” says Stacie.
